There has been a lot of shifting around of musicians lately. Duff joins Jane’s Addiction, BLS gets a new drummer, and now Joey Jordison of Slipknot is hitting the skins for Rob Zombie on tour this year.
Zombie posted the news on his Myspace today, which comes as a bit of a surprise since Tommy Clufetos has been with Zombie for several years. The blog did not go into detail as to the whereabouts of Clufetos.
Jordison will make his Zombie debut at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards on April 8th at Club Nokia in LA and will be part of Mayhem Fest this summer and the Gruesome Twosome tour with Alice Cooper in the spring.
Want to see Iron Maiden this summer? You’ll get your chance when the British legends go on tour with Dream Theater in support of their upcoming release, “The Final Frontier”.
Maiden will trek throughout North America, beginning with a June 9th date in Dallas and ending on the 20th of July in DC.
I’ve never been much of a Jane’s Addiction fan. Something about Perry Farrell’s voice and the catsuits and the combination just never did anything for me.
But with the recent departure of original Jane’s bassist Eric Avery, Perry is bringing in the one and only Duff McKagan to begin working on new Jane’s material.
I’m intrigued by this addition to the band. Maybe I’ll actually care when the album drops. Maybe.
This was unexpected. Alice in Chains (aka YouAintRock’s favorite grunge band, aka Trish’s favorite band EVER) have announced another string of tour dates for this spring! Holy Jerry Cantrell!!
I’m so excited I can’t even form sentences! I think this whole post is gonna be filled with exclamation points! I feel like Elaine from Seinfeld!
Doesn’t Mike Inez have the BEST smile? I fucking LOVE these guys.
What year is this? Alice in Chains are touring, Soundgarden is reuniting, Pearl Jam is on tour and now STP is releasing new music! All Hail the Grunge Revolution!
As a diehard grunge fan, this is awesome news. Scott Weiland is definitely one of the greatest frontmen of modern music (charisma + drugs + more drugs = awesome music), so I’m pumped to see what this new album has in store.
This was the big tour announcement Zombie tweeted about on Friday. As of right now, the tour only has a handful of dates (mostly in Western Canada), but let’s hope this goes to a full-scale North American tour!
There’s no way Zombie and Alice Cooper are going to tour and NOT go to major cities. There’s no way! I won’t let it happen!! Come home Zombie and bring Alice with you!
System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian has a new dvd coming out on March 9th, titled “Elect The Dead Symphony”.
The concert was filmed with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra and screenings for the dvd will take place this week (including one TONIGHT in Providence and one on Monday night in Brookline, MA at the Coolidge Corner Theatre – some websites list the theater as being in Somerville, but it is NOT in Somerville!).

Looks like the guys in A7X will have Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy play on their upcoming album. Avenged drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan, who died in late December, was a huge fan and greatly influenced by Portnoy.
The band stated: “It’s comforting to us that someone like Mike, who is undoubtedly revered as one of the best drummers in the world, held such respect and adoration for the Rev’s abilities.”
Whether or not the band will tour with Portnoy or conduct a search for a new drummer is unknown. This will be the first album since 2007’s self-titled effort.
If you’re from the New England area, chances are you’ve been to the New England Hardcore & Metal Fest at some point in its 12 year existence. Nothings says Metal like the Worcester Palladium during Metal Fest!!
This year the festival returns, with headliners Mastodon, Between the Buried and Me, and Baroness on Friday, April 23rd and Saturday’s headliners Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth, Job For A Cowboy and Whitechapel on April 24th.
