What year is this? Alice in Chains are touring, Soundgarden is reuniting, Pearl Jam is on tour and now STP is releasing new music! All Hail the Grunge Revolution!

As a diehard grunge fan, this is awesome news. Scott Weiland is definitely one of the greatest frontmen of modern music (charisma + drugs + more drugs = awesome music), so I’m pumped to see what this new album has in store.

Though many fans panned 2001′s “Shangri-La Dee Da”, I actually liked it! There are some great, heavy tracks on there in addition to some nice ballads. Yes, it’s not “Core”, but deal with it. Bands evolve.

So, with that said, I eagerly anticipate the release of the self-titled album on May 25th. Velvet Revolver was fun, but I’m really glad to see Scott back with the DeLeo brothers and Eric Kretz. STP is where he belongs.
